Not surprising really since I'm at the world's biggest music and nerd fest. I even got invited to a 'tweet up' by new mate Joie who was even wearing a twitter inspired ring. I told her that Twitter was illegal in Australia and that's why I don't use it. I also told her I have a pet crocodile at home.

Today's item

Thanks to Joie I'm seriously thinking about tweeting soon. I'm so 2007. Click the pic to see Joie's twitter ring.

Numerologically speaking

Forecast

Melbourne: Possible shower, 28
Austin: Sunny, 21

Message for today

You know how 11.11 is my favourite time? Well it is. Four super models in a row, it doesn't get better than that. Well it appears the power of 1111 has stretched all the way to street addresses too. Look what I found at 1111 South Congress Avenue today. A musical guitar flask. Just what I need. Jessica from Goodie Two Shoes was kind enough to show me how it works. I can't really remember the rest of the day. Lucky I took photos.

Today's item

Guitar flask US$25 from Goodie Two shoes, 1111 South Congress Ave, Austin Texas.

Ride em ... um, bike girl

Forecast

Melb: Sunny, 30
Austin: Cloudy, 16

Message for today

I have a confession. I genuinely thought I'd find cowboys riding around on horses over here. Clearly I should have done more research. What I did find, however, are lots of people riding bikes around the city. This is Leona. She was nice enough to dink me over to the south side on her pedicab today. It was going well until she stopped at the bottom of the hill and told me to get out and walk.

Here's what else I saw today.

Today's item

Pedicab rides all over Austin (except hills) Check out Leona's bike zine at dropoutzine.com

Howdy Austin!

Forecast

Melb: Sunny, 31
Austin: cloudy, 23

Message for today

Howdy Michis!

Greetings from Austin Texas. Home to big hats, big hair, big tacos, big rats (more about that later) and big bags under my eyes after spending 28 hours in transit to get here. It's early days but so far I've managed to eat more tacos than my pants can fit, walk into a pole while trying to read a map, and spotted a women walking a capybara on a lead. And I didn't have my camera with me. Once the jet lag wears off I'm sure my luck will change.

Today's item

This guy is not nearly as fatigued as me. I'll be updating my trip each day right here

Free films and fun times

Forecast

Saturday: Perfect day for a wedding, 25
Sunday: Last hoorah, 27

Message for today

For years I have been walked past the Atherton Gardens public housing estate and playground and thought how it is strange that the playground has a private property sign on it. Now that the inaugural Fitzroy Outdoor Cinema has been announced we can crash the park for a night. Free films start at duck. BYO pillows.

Today's item

20th March 2010 From 6:00pm. But I don't. If you think you have an inner-designer, come along to the Envelope + MüCKE workshop as part of LMFF. The clever pair will present 8 workshops - ENVELOPE will offer 4 on transforming a fashion garment and 4 with MüCKE to create a personalised fashion accessory. Only seven people get to go so book it soon, you'll be better dressed than the rest!

Today's item

Workshops: 18th to 21st and 25 to 28th of March from 3pm to 5pm at The Atrium, Federation Square
Bookings: www.envelope.net.au Bookings close Wednesday 17 March

No vested interest

Forecast

Thursday: Morning cloud, 22

Message for today

I just wrote a whole story that was completely brilliant about vests and transseasonal dressing - how it is hideous, we all hate it, our last winter clothes are musty and rusty and it was insightful and funny. Then it disappeared. Someone tripped on the server cable and I had to start again. Well I'm not. I can't be bothered. Just like I can't be bothered washing woollens or brushing my hair.

Today's item

orte Forte Shirt from Italy $595, American Vintage Vest from France $125 from Manon Cie, 1011 High Street, Armadale 9821 0760

Chewsday

Forecast

Wednesday: A few showers, 21

Message for today

Statistics show that Tuesday is the most popular day for chewing pen lids. Statistics also show that Tuesday is also the most popular day for buying jewellery. And would you believe it's also the most popular day for writing stories about people who turn chewed pen lids into necklaces? It's true, I read it right here.

Today's item

CHewed pen lid made in Melbourne $250 chewedbytuesday.com

Heart breakingly good

Forecast

Saturday: Cloudy, 23
Sunday: Cloudy, 21

Message for today

My heart broke when I saw this. Not being that strong in Religious Studies I can only say this from one angle - a fashion angle. For Joseph got the technicolour dreamcoat didn't he? Do you think it was really magical? Or perhaps it is just a song and didn't really exist. Disappointing unless this bag has magical powers too, which I suspect it might.

Today's item

Octopus multi coloured bag is $260 and it's available online only (in Australia) at www.europeanwardrobe.com.au
