As a youngster I wrestled with many a culinary conundrum in the dark hours of winter afternoons. And none was more heartbreaking than the making of doughnuts. I had devices even, for their making and I don’t need to tell you they never worked. I have since developed a pathological ‘fear of frying’. Which is sad because I would love to fry and I love doughnuts. I love sprinkles. Blistering jam. I want to shout out (as did Newman) ‘Pair of bear claws please’. But I could go on about doughnuts all day (and have on previous michis). So in short – as a never fail, and wonderfully ephemeral option to the doughnut problem, thank goodness Rohani Osman has decided to knit them. Of course.
